Access control card duplication

The majority of access control systems use cards and fobs that can be duplicated very easily. There are devices available on the internet that can duplicate and RFID access control card using the 125Khz frequency in seconds.

What is the risk? Identify Theft

If your building is using standard access control cards and fobs then an exact copy your card can be made with exactly the same access to the building.

So what? If there is an incident in your facility and security is asked to produce the access control logs for a time period, the logs that have been produced can not be relied upon for accuracy. Without visual verification using CCTV they can not prove it was you in the facility at the time. It could be a duplicated card.

What is the solution? You need to move to a restricted card format that can not be duplicated. Independent Locksmiths & Security have a product called ILS Secure Access that will overcome these issues.

Watch the attached video for a demonstration. Then give us a call to discuss how we can help your reduce your risk.

I just watched your video and read up about the ILS secure format reader but I fail to understand how you can claim this to be more secure than Prox as it uses Mifare which is also cracked? Duplicating a card here is just as easy!

Hi Interested in security,
We are communicating that basic 125khz cards are no longer secure and can be copied onto another card. This could be likened to a normal residential front door key being cut easily by any key cutter. Our aim is to offer our customers products that give them the best security available.

In relation to cracking Mifare, devices are available that will read the code on a card and repeat it from the device. It can not however duplicate that code onto anther card. These devices to read Mifare cards are not not widely available and are complicated to use.
